Floridian Escape!

Since March in New England insists on being cold, dreary, and depressing- Oliver and I decided to zip down to Florida to visit Nana and feel the sun on our faces. We had an awesome time with many activities and plenty of much needed 'hang out' time. Oliver spent every morning in the courtyard playing with shells - scooping gravel - popping bubbles - watering the plants (and himself, mostly)...
Oliver very much enjoyed turning pages to some magazines with his Great Nanny Nancy!

Our first stop was Butterfly World. They has a very cool aviary with tons if beautiful butterflies flying every where. A huge black and white one landed on Oliver's head but I was to slow to capture the moment. Then a mini swarm came fluttering at him and he was more than skeptical from then on. They also had birds and an insect museum which was really neat to see all the different species out there, but, may be less neat if they were say, crawling on my leg. Oliver enjoyed the giant berries that fell from a tree- which he played with until the squished all over - and running around.

We also visited the Loggerhead Marinelife Center which is a hospital/recovery center for sea turtles. These were our two favorites, although I forget their names. Oliver seemed a little disappointed he wasn't able to get into their water tanks with them. In his defense, they did look like large kiddie pools.

We also visited the Palm Beach Zoo, always a favorite. The animals were out and enjoying the "cool" March weather (it was actually 80). Someone ahead of us annoyed the free roaming peacock so we got to see his tail feathers open. The albino alligator, his name is Mardi, had his own house. I'm guessing his eyes were sensitive to the sun.

We got to see otters, hang in a Bald Eagle's nest and play 'Drivin' Miss Daisy'
